A hotel owner in Ha Long spent hundreds of millions of dong to buy a generator

Information from the Branch of PetroVietnam Power Corporation said: Power project management board (under PV Power) and Samsung C&T General Contractor Joint Venture

With a capacity of 60 rooms, a hotel is expected to spend from 800,000 - 1 million VND/hour on oil to "feed" the generator. If there is a power outage for 10-12 hours, the amount to be paid can be up to 10 million VND/day.

"Bullying your stomach" to spend money to buy a generator

"We are tired of hearing customers curse us as scammers even though we ourselves cannot control the lack of electricity," said Nguyen Van Anh, manager of a hotel in Bai Chay (Ha Long).

About three weeks ago, rotating power outages, lasting continuously for many hours and days in Ha Long, left Van Anh's hotel in a miserable state. Not only losing customers but also having enough economic loss.

This manager said that around the last two weeks of May, power outages began to appear, beyond the hotel's control. At this time, the backup generator is only enough to power the elevator and refrigerator.

Benefits when installing the system

It is forecasted that the power outage will continue for a long time. In Ha Long, many hotels and large and small accommodation establishments have to buy or rent emergency generators. New purchase costs range from 300 million to 1 billion VND. If rented, it costs 1 million VND/day, not including the cost of operating the machine.

"But the whole city lost power everywhere. Even if we wanted to rent, there wouldn't be enough generators to rent. My family only has two villas, but we had to buy a generator for 300 million VND to keep one unit running." , Duyen Phan, owner of a villa in the Mon Bay area (Ha Long), said.

The remaining villa, with a capacity of about 16 people, does not have a generator, so Duyen has to refuse to accept guests, refund all guests who have booked in advance, and does not accept the risk of electricity.
