Investing more than 1,000 billion VND to bring national grid electricity to Co To island

On November 4, in Co To island district (Quang Ninh province), the Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Northern Power Corporation (EVN NPT) to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the project to bring national grid electricity to Co To island and 5 provinces. The island commune belongs to Van Don district.

The project to bring national grid electricity to Co To island includes 40.6 km of 110 kV overhead lines; 1 110 kV transformer station with capacity of 40 MVA; 45.4 km of 22 kV medium voltage lines; 8 22 kV cutting stations; 13 22/0.4kV distribution transformer stations with a total capacity of 2,880 kVA and 29.4 km of low voltage lines supply power to 1,447 households.

This is the first project in the country to be constructed with the technology of directly burying 22 kV underground cables under the seabed, with a total length of 25,064 km.

The project has a total investment of 1,073 billion VND, of which the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province invested 883 billion VND and the Northern Power Corporation invested 284 billion VND. In addition, the project also received sponsorship from a number of businesses such as: Vietnam Coal - Mineral Industry Group committed to sponsor 150 billion VND, Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade 50 billion VND, Hoang Anh Group Gia Lai 15 billion VND...

Once this project is completed and put into operation, it will ensure continuous, safe and long-term stable power supply to serve production and daily life of the people; meeting the socio-economic development needs of Co To island district and 5 island communes of Van Don district, contributing to ensuring national defense and security in the Northeast region of the country.

According to plan, the project will be completed after 12 months of construction.
